The UNGPs are paving the way for Business & Human Rights to move into the agenda of the World Economic Forum
CEO Sune Skadegaard Thorsen, advisor to the Global Business Initiative on Human Rights (GBI), points to three important sessions at the World Economic Forum in Davos next week; all with participation of GBI members:
1) On Thursday 24 January from 7.30 – 8.30 Unilever and Oxfam will host a private breakfast session to launch an Oxfam report focused on labour rights in Unilever’s supply chain. This meeting is taking place in the Belvedere Restaurant at the Belvedere Hotel.
2) On Saturday 26 January from 13.00 – 14.30, Microsoft will host a private workshop on business and human rights on behalf of the WEF Global Agenda Council on Human Rights. This will take place at the Microsoft Vision Centre, 101 Promenade, Davos.
3) On Saturday 26 January at 15.30 – 16.30, Mary Robinson will speak about the UN Guiding Principles in a panel session entitled The Moral Economy: From Social Contract to Social Covenant. This event will take place in the Congress Centre, Sandana as part of the Davos agenda.
