New report from Expert Workshop on CSR and Human Rights
GLOBAL CSR presented a new approach to supply chain management – Responsible Supply Chain Management Generation 3.0, at the international workshop: “Scaling Up Voluntary Standards for Human Rights – The Challenge of Measuring Impact“, in Bonn, June 2009. A report on the workshop has now been published.
Morten Lehmann from GLOBAL CSR was among the speakers at the Expert Workshop, which was conducted as part of the research project: “Human Rights, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainable Development“, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and conducted by the Institute for development and Peace (INEF).
Participants at the workshop agreed that the challenge of improving the human rights situation among supplier companies in developing countries needs to be approached from a new angle. The Responsible Supply Chain Management Generation 3.0 (RSCM 3.0) addresses the biggest challenges presented by traditional approaches. One of the key points of this novel approach is the importance of strengthening local state capabilities and thereby avoid exclusion of SMEs in RSCM work.
